Marilyn Monroe: 50 Year Anniversary

This Sunday, August 5th will be the 50th anniversary of the tragic death of one of Hollywood’s most Iconic stars.

Marilyn Monroe.

Like millions of others around the world, Marilyn holds a special place in my heart despite the fact that she sadly passed away 23 years before I was even born.

Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition

I can’t put into words what it is about Marilyn that captivates me so much.

I have feelings too. I am still human. All I want is to be loved, for myself and for my talent

Her beauty? Certainly.

If I play a stupid girl and ask a stupid question, I’ve got to follow it through, what am I supposed to do, look intelligent?

Her troubled life? To an extent.

I don’t mind making jokes, but I don’t want to look like one

The duality of her personality?

Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul. I know, because I turned down the first offer often enough and held out for the fifty cents

From the world’s biggest sex symbol to the sensitive, shy and insecure girl who just wanted to be loved? Definitely.

Sex is part of nature. I go along with nature

To try and define what made Marilyn so wonderful is nigh on impossible, something I wouldn’t even attempt to do.

If you’re gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty

I will simply mark this occasion and anniversary with a selection of some of my favourite Marilyn quotes and photos.

Rest In Peace Marilyn, thank you for everything that you were

x

  2. I actually read a book called Fragments which is all of her notes and letters that she wrote. It really shows you the vulnerability of Marilyn, at the end of the day she just wanted to be cared and loved for her she really was. I really recommend it :) xo

  3. I never used to like her, but I watched a documentary about her last night, and she truly was a stunning stunning woman... so captivating yet very tragic. I love Marilyn now! There will never be another woman like her.
