Sunday 25th March- The Day Before My Surgery

Sunday 25th March- The Day Before My Surgery

It’s the day before my surgery.

How do I feel?

Nervous, excited, anxious all rolled into one. It sounds cheesy but I'm hoping tomorrow will be the first day of the rest of my life.

I've weighed myself, taken measurements from my tummy and flanks and photographed myself,  ready to compare the photos and measurements in a few weeks.

Don't get me wrong, I know that only diet and exercise will ensure long lasting results, but I'm hoping this will be the kick I need to get started. After all, who wants to spend time recovering in pain and discomfort to get the body they want, for 6 months down the line ruin it all by putting all the weight back on?

I can't eat or drink for 6 hours before the procedure tomorrow so I'm about to sit down to my last supper.

M&S roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding followed by my favourite Cadbury caramel nibbles- after all, I can't be eating these again for a while!

I’ve been given antibiotics from Dr Comins which I need to take 3 times a day for 5 days to minimise the chance of developing any post op infections and i started these today.

It’s feeling very real now!

My op is at 12pm tomorrow in Knightsbridge and my husband is coming with me and driving- i won’t want to be traveling on trains after the procedure that’s for sure!

I’ve got my little box of everything i might need after the surgery and in the forthcoming weeks sorted ;

*         Painkillers- Not pictured (Strong ones at that, prescribed by Dr Comins for use post surgery)

*       Sterile dressings (and lots of them)

 *       Nelson's Arnicare Lotion & Pillules (Around £4.50 & £5.50- which I’ve already started taking to help with the inevitable bruising)

 *      An Ultrasound Cellu- Smooth hand held massager from The Beauty Works (£49.99, You are encouraged to self massage for several weeks after the procedure and an ultrasound massage unit is recommended)

*         Dermatix Silicone Gel - Not Pictured (Around £25, To be applied to my scars to help reduce scarring)

* 2 really fetching Compression Garments from Macom. (I got a black and beige one, style number  2003 but your consultant or nurses will advise you which one you will need)

I think I’m all sorted and prepared, I hope I am!

Now, bring on tomorrow! Eeek!
