Spring/Summer 2012 Beauty Trends

I know it’s only January but if you’re anything like me you’ll already be looking forward to spring and summer.

Perhaps your thinking about booking a summer holiday somewhere exotic or perhaps you are just dreaming of a time where the days are warm and its not pitch black at 4 in the afternoon.

Whatever your doing, allow me to brighten up your day by introducing you to a few of the must have looks for spring/summer 2012

Retro Glamour

The gorgeous & Timeless Jane Russell

Step back into the past as Retro Glamour becomes big news this year, with gorgeous ladies such as Dita Von Teese, The Puppini sisters and singer Caro Emerald leading the way with their immaculately coiffed locks, flawless skin and rouged lips.

The Puppini Sisters

Immaculately lined eyes and feline flicks dominated the Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Paul Gaultier catwalk and glossy red lips completed the Hollywood glamour look.

Katy Perry Rocks Victory Rolls

Go one step further and finish the look with victory rolls (as seen on Little Mix and Katy Perry) for a truly stunning vintage look.
Clarins Joli Rouge in Poppy Red, £16.50

My new favourite red lippie comes in the shape of Clarins’ Joli Rouge long wearing moisturising lipstick in Poppy Red, brand new for this spring.

Clarins Jolie Rouge, Poppy Red

It moisturises, goes on beautifully and smells divine.

Pout Paint in Pin Up, £4.99

Another favourite of mine is is Sleek's Pout Paint in Pin Up. A decadent, thick red which applies easily with a brush and creates a stunning look.

For the full works head to The Powder Room for some retro style pampering and beautifying!

Brushed Up Brows

Whether you like to admit it or not, your mum was probably right when she told the adolescent you that you had over plucked your eyebrows ‘a little’.

She was being kind really, as In reality you were actually sporting a pair of eyebrows thinner than a stand of quick cook spaghetti and hideously mismatched in both length and size.

(Anyone else? No? Just me?)
(If it’s good enough for Marilyn…)

Well put your tweezers down as the new look is brushed up brows.

Strong brows are back with a vengeance this S/S after proving to be a catwalk favourite.

Thick boyish brows, brushed upwards instead of worn sleek immediately give you a unique and edgy new look.

If you find yourself a little folically challenged fear not, you can still give this trend a go thanks to Dior who have created a set of brow stencils.

Dior Backstage Brow Stencils, £26

Included in the kit are two eyebrow pencils and a selection of different stencils. Honestly, they take a while to  get the hang of,  but with a bit of practice you can have gorgeous, full brows too.

Dior’s Backstage Brow Stencils cost £26 and you can get hold of them from Harrods.

Bright Lips

Bright Lips are going to be big news this summer. Be bold and incredibly brave and go blue!

Stand out from the crowd by taking inspiration from lime green and bright pinks as seen at Val Garlands show.

Go one step further and follow in the steps of Thierry Mugler by finally breaking open those brightly coloured, glittery lip tattoos that you have so wanted to debut all of 2011 but never had the confidence to do so!

Violent Lips Glitteratti Temporary Tattoos, £7.99

(Note: Bright lips looks great with subtle eye make up. Do not, I repeat do not attempt to match your eye shadow to your lipstick or wear heavy eye make up at the same time. Think of it as the rule when you’re going on a night out. Show a bit of boob or legs, never both together. The same rule applies here with lips and eyes!)

There’s no such thing as too much Coral

Ok well actually there probably is, but this is the colour of the season for yet another year.

(I cant get enough of it!)
Coral coloured nails look gorgeous on everyone and a dash of coral on your cheeks is both warming and flattering.

L'Oreal Glam Shine Fresh in Aqua Mandarin

Try L'Oreal's Glam Shine Fresh lip gloss in Aqua Mandarin (£6.85) to recreate the JLO coral look on a budget.

MeMeMe have a gorgeous coral shade in their blush box range at the bargain price of just £6.50

MeMeMe Blush Box in Coral

If you’re not feeling brave enough to go all out, easy yourself in gently and try just a hint of a tint with Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint (£24.50) a try.

Apply a little to the balls of your cheeks and dab a little on your lips for a pretty, subtle look.

So what do you think of the hot looks for this Spring/Summer?

Will you be brave enough to rock any of them?
