The Body Shop Lip Oils

Yesterday I excitedly received a product ive been waiting in anticipation for ages to try- The New Body Shop Lip oils.

The 5 flavours, Rose, Mint, Orange, Berry and Coconut  are made from 100% natural ingredients with community fair trade soya oil and organic olive oil- I was sold by the 100% natural part and the fact that it is a roll-on lip balm. I can now say goodbye to sticky balmy fingers now and can instead roll moisture onto my lips with ease!

I must admit, it did feel odd rolling the balm onto my lips- im used to using products with rolling action mainly around my eyes such as the l’Occitane Angelica eye gel.

That said the lip oil was lovely and smooth, not thick and gunky. It gave a lovely delicate and natural sheen to my lips (see photo) whilst leaving them feel really moisturised. Some lip gloss’s and lipsticks leave my lips looking lush but feeling dry, so this was really pleasant.

I particularly liked the Mint flavour which gave a cool sensation when applying and tasted nice too!
Just make sure you don’t go OTT and apply loads, you don’t need it and it will make your lips slippery due to the oil.

You can get hold of these treats for you lips on the Body Shop website for £3 which is a bargain!

Rouge Bunny Rouge

For weeks now I have heard online, whispers of a new, fantastic cosmetics company. Appearing sporadically on blogs and on twitter, the whispers intrigued me. Inspired by Victorian fairytales I heard. Originally from Russia, ooh how exotic. You cant currently buy it in any UK stores, interesting and exclusive eh. Its very expensive, definitely high end stuff, certainly.

Rouge Bunny Rouge had become my new fascination, not purely because of the seemingly exclusive nature of their products (and their price tags) but more because of the innovative nature of their items.

I awoke from a peaceful slumber one fine morning  and found to have in my possession a variety of different Rouge Bunny Rouge items. How they had got there, I could not say. It were as if by magic. I spotted a light glimmer of what appeared to be fairy dust gleaming in the sunlight which was peaking through my window and realised that the fairies from the enchanted garden had glided silently into my bedroom that evening and left their magical lotions and potions for me to find upon waking.

Ok not really, but this is exactly the imagery Rouge Bunny Rouge evokes, with its fairy tale esq descriptions of products which evoke images of fairies, princesses, enchanted woods and magic.

Evocative descriptions aside, Rouge Bunny Rouge really does have a fantastic array of products to offer, my favourite being their Decadent Duo range. Ever had the issue of trying to find a blush and lipgloss that actually compliment each other? Search no more ladies, Decadent Duo can solve the problem for you.

The duo range is basically a 2 in 1 product. 1 Physical product, 2 functions. One end of the wand contains a delicate liquid blush whilst the other contains a lipgloss. Im a massive fan of liquid/cream blush anyway as I feel it gives you a more natural glow as opposed to being too matte.

The blush has a brush wand for application, though I prefer to put it on my fingers before blending it into my cheeks. The Gloss was silky, shiny and moisturising and complimented the blush perfectly.

What a genius idea eh! Genius if you know what you are using. I must admit, it took me a while to realise it was a blush and gloss- I had thought it was a dual lipgloss to begin with…

Another firm favourite is their Lip Potion in Devilish Nectar. Blended with spicy essential oils (I can definitely smell cinnamon, cardamom and chilli for sure) and jojoba, it increases the blood flow to your lips leaving them flushed, softened and irresistible to any prince!

You can currently only buy Rouge Bunny Rouge on the website Zuneta.com, but be warned, you will need to save up your hard earned gold coins before indulging, with the Decadent Duo’s selling for £28,  and The Lip potion £24 they are definitely little luxuries.

I'm In love with Argan Oil

exhibit 1
exhibit 2
My hair is absolutely not the type of hair which you would look at and think ‘blimey, that could do with some conditioning or serum to tame it!’. My hair is currently long and absolutely dead straight, though even when cut short it was still exactly the same (see exhibit 1 and 2!)  My hairdresser describes my hair type as glassy- in that the strands are smooth and reflective.

That said, just because I don’t need an industrial strength type serum to tame my mane doesn’t mean I don’t want one!  I too want to be able to use a product that will make my hair even silkier!

Now allow me to introduce you to Tresemme’s Salon Smooth serum containing  Argan Oil. Argan Oil is an oil from Morocco known for its nourishing and smoothing benefits.  I’d been desperate to try a product containing this oil as I have heard such great things about it.

I squeezed some of the product out into my hands and noticed immediately how different the texture was to other serums I had tried. This was light, non sticky, and more the texture of oil than a gloopy serum.
I rubbed it into my fingers then pulled my fingers through my hair, concentrating on the tips, then blow dried as usual.

Tresemme claim that the serum helps to calm frizz, instantly smooths and leaves hair soft and healthy looking with a gorgeous shine. It certainly did that- my hair felt light, shiny and very smooth to touch.

Whether it was the Argan oil or other elements of the products that produced such a positive result I don’t know, but im going to be on the hunt for other products featuring Moroccan oil from now on!

Tantastic Fantastic

Im not a great lover of fake tan. I am bad at applying it, bad at maintaining it and bad at wearing it, which means that for 360 days of the year I look like snow white with skin as white as snow.

My sister  Megan (to the left) on the other hand is a total fake tan expert and connoisseur, so when I asked her to review Tantastic instant tan, she was more than happy to oblige.

Tantastic contains vitamin E and creates a tan which lasts for up to 5 days. It bronzes your skin instantly, doesn’t stain your clothes and it doesn’t smell. The makers claim the tan looks great on everyone as it adjusts to your own complexion.

So what did Megan think?

Tantastic was very quick and easy to apply - its a runny liquid though so have to be careful when you pour it to ensure it goes on the mitt and doesn’t drip onto floor.
The product had the consistency of water and dried quickly without an unpleasant after smell.
The mitt allows you to cover your skin smoothly and evenly, but beware as it does stain your  hands without the mitt.
For a quick fix it looks good, its not greasy and it dries relatively quickly compared to Rimmell sun shimmer and St Tropez. Another massive plus is that it doesn’t feel tacky on your skin.

So ladies (and perhaps gents) go forth and instant tan!

Tantastic is available in over 1500 pharmacies and department stores in the UK and Ireland.

Simple Goodness

Simple are one of my favourite all time brands as their products are perfect for my troublesome, sensitive skin and I have been a fan of their face wipes over all other brands for as long as they have been available. Unlike some wipes which are barely even moist and you feel like your rubbing a dry piece of toilet paper over your face, Simples cleansing wipes are refreshing and contain vitamin goodness to help cleanse and tone your skin. You can even use them to take your eye make off without them irritating your eyes.

Im never without mine and always have a pack in my back ‘just in case’, and at the moment for every limited edition pack you buy Simple will donate 10p to Macmillian Cancer Support, so look out for the bright pink splash to signal the fund-raising partnership.  Go and stock up from Boots now!
