For reasons that I don’t quite know, I haven’t used a toner
in my skincare regime for a really long time.
This misguided decision may have been due to me reading that
using an astringent type toner will only make oily skin oilier (yes, I know, I
know!)
Anyway… out of the blue a few months ago I developed cystic
acne all over my chin. Not since I was pregnant with my son 2 years ago had I experienced
a flare up and I was gutted.
So, who else did I go to for help but the Caroline Hirons,
skincare guru and blogger.
She advised me that I needed to get some acid on my skin
asap and to take a look at her blog for info on what kind of products contain
the acids that I needed.
This orange hued liquid is designed to tone and condition
your skin after cleansing and contains 5% glycolic acid (a natural derivative of sugar cane and member of the alpha-hydroxy
acid family) which gently exfoliates by dissolving the bonds that bind
dull, dead cells on your skins surface, revealing healthy cells beneath.
It also contains Aloe to sooth and hydrate, ginseng which promotes
cell health, witch hazel which firms and tones and white horse chestnut which boosts
blood flow. Together this combination of ingredients encourages fresh, healthy
skin that glows.
You use it like any other toner, by applying a few drops to
a cotton wool pad and sweeping over your face morning and evening.
Firstly, I’m not a HUGE fan of its fragrance, but you should
never judge a product by its scent so I just ignored it.
What I was most shocked by is when applied to my skin, it didn’t
tingle or sting, even on open wounds.
It also didn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry in the
slightest. In fact, it made my skin feel refreshed and beautifully clean.
I’ve been using it religiously for the past 5 weeks and I
have noticed a marked improvement in my skin.
Blemishes seem to heal far quicker and the scars I already
had appear to have diminished both in size and in redness.
Better still, I haven’t had a cystic zit pop up since I
started using the product.
Now, yes, that could be pure coincidence, it could have been
down to hormones, I don’t know, but what I do know is that since I’ve been
using the Pixi Glow Tonic my skin has felt softer and looked healthier.
Caroline, thanks a million for introducing me to this!
