Is it just me that
gets annoyed with the lack of the letter ‘u’ in their word ‘color’?!
Anyway, these new semi-matte lippies which are out this
month are said to offer ‘a powder like finish which give instant moisture and
all day colour to your lips’.
Their moisturising properties come from Vitamin E, Aloe and
Shea Butter while Revlon’s Colorstay technology is designed to leave you with
colour that lasts for ages.
I tried out two of their 14 shades, High Heels and
Womenswear.
Firstly can I just say, I love the packaging- It’s compact,
chic and cute and I like the ‘click’ you get when you twist the lippie up.
I also really liked the texture of the product which glided
onto my lips like silk but felt soft and comforting like velvet.
I wasn’t, however, such a fan of the shades.
Perhaps it was just the two I chose, but both of them had
really iridescent properties to them
(which you may or may not be able to pick up on in my photos) making my
lips look shimmery, which I did not like.

They are being marketed as a semi-matte lipstick, yet the
appearance is that of a shimmery, glossy lip, which I thought odd.
That said, they did feel really nice on my lips and weren’t
drying, but I did notice that while the base colour lasted a fair while, the
iridescent sheen disappeared quite quickly, and unevenly, meaning I had to keep
topping it up so my lips didn’t look half done!
I really wanted to give these an 8 or 9 out of 10 and had
high hopes after the huge success of their Lip Butters, but on this occasion they
didn’t quite make it. I think I’m going to try out a few of their other 14
shades and see if I get on better with any of them.
What do you think? Have you tried any of these out yet?
