Murad Skin Perfecting Primer – Blemish and Shine Control

You’ve probably heard me use this saying a lot, but it’s true.

It’s a crime not to prime!

Priming gives your skin with the perfect base to create stunning looks and helps your make up to last longer as well as looking fresher.

Murad have the perfect primer for my oily, troublesome skin in their Skin Perfecting Primer – Blemish and Shine Control (£29).

The unique formula is meant to instantly improve the appearance of your skin, conceal flaws and imperfections leaving you with a perfectly matte finish, while improving skin health for the future too.

The product uses an Adaptive Shade Technology, creating a perfect skin tone match with light-enhancing minerals which blend with your natural skin tone and It contains a Probiotic Complex  to promote resistance to harmful bacteria while Salicylic Acid reduces blemishes and prevents future breakouts.

Sounds fab, and it is indeed fab.

Unlike other primers which can feel heavy and thick, the Murad primer is extremely light, non greasy and glides onto the skin like silk.

Due to its adaptive shade technology it comes in one shade, which to begin with looks too dark for my skin, but when applied and blended, it matches my skin tone seamlessly.

My skin is left feeling super silky and soft and my foundation literally just glides onto my skin with this as a base.

I found that it did help to keep my oily skin at bay more than if I wasn’t wearing it, though I did still have to power my nose every now and then.

It felt good to know that this primer wasn’t just helping to create a great base for my make up, but that it was helping to look after my skin too, which for me, made the £29 price tag more acceptable.

You can get your own Murad Skin Perfecting Primer with Blemish & Shine Control from their website, where you will also be able to get primers which offer a dewey finish and matte finish.

Garnier B.B. Cream Review

So i finally got around to trying out Garnier’s new so called ‘miracle’ B.B. Cream.

It sold out within a day of launching on Superdrug’s website and twitter was buzzing with people talking about it, trying to get their hands on it and asking questions about it.

The day after it launched i excitedly  hopped over to superdug and bought the Miracle Skin Perfector in Light.

Garniers Miracle Skin Perfector is Inspired by the latest Asian skincare sensation- B.B. creams, or Blemish Balms to give them their full name (Took me ages to work out what the B.B stood for!)
The cream comes in two shaded, light and medium and claims to be;

An all in one skincare solution that immediately perfects your skin. The light, non-greasy formula gives an even skin tone with a healthy glow, blurs imperfections and redness, smoothes the appearance of fine lines, hydrates for 24 hours and helps protect with SPF 15.

I can see why people were excited about this product with all those claims!

The Results:

Before (No Make Up)

I was actually quite disappointed with this product.

For a cream that is meant to be light and non greasy, i found it both heavy and greasy.

That said i do tend to have quite oily skin, so on someone with dry/ extra dry skin the cream may well be perfect.

I bought the Light shade but found that this was a little too dark for my skin and i found myself worrying about the dreaded tide mark on my neck showing!

You can see from the photo on the left that the result of wearing the cream alone left my with a more even tone and healthy glow, but it also left my skin feeling and looking rather greasy.

To combat this i tried applying my MAC Blot Powder in Medium over the top to take the shine off (see left photo)- which worked, but i was left feeling a little like i had caked my make up on, which somewhat defeated the idea of a  light, tinted moisturising esq product.

Perhaps after using it long term i would be able to get on better with it, but i just found it too heavy and oily for my skin. Sorry Garnier!

You can try it for yourself for £9.99 from Superdrug.
