Boost Your Locks with GHD

My hair is quite ‘glassy’ in texture, which means it is pretty silky, shiny and straight.

Sure this sounds great in theory, but when it comes to doing anything with it other than wearing it straight, it makes it nigh on impossible.

Because it is so ‘glassy’ it means it lacks any real texture, which in turn means that getting any kind of volume or style into it is really hard work, frustrating and usually ends in failure.

Lucky for me then that GHD have a brilliant range of products and styling tools available designed to help inject some va-va-voom and lushness into your hair!

This super-hero trio have really helped me to style my hair in a way I’ve been unable to since forever with very little effort and fuss, plus they are all really reasonably priced and easy to use too.

First up you’ve got their Root Lift spray (£12.95). One of the hardest things for me to achieve is voluminous roots which in turn help to create big, bouncy hair.

This spray helps to create a firm foundation for your style and can even be used to boost styles that have become flat throughout the day or slept on.

Its really easy to use and though it can be used on both dry and damp hair, I find I get best results when my hair is damp.

Section your hair off and apply 1-2 pumps to the underside of each section concentrating on the roots as closely as possible then simply blow dry as usual for hair that now has visibly more lift at the roots without feeling sticky or crispy.

Obviously, a decent product is only half the solution when it comes to creating the perfect style and a top notch brush is going to be needed too.

I’ve found GHD’s Ceramic vented radial brush in size 2 (£15) is brilliant at helping to produce a full bodied, smooth look when blow drying.

Because its ceramic it retains its heat to allow for a faster blow dry and its sleek handle and gentle bristles work their way effortlessly through your locks.

The best way to use this brush is to dry your hair until its 80% dry and then work on small to medium sections, place the brush into the root area and direct the head from the hairdryer at the barrel. Keep the tension as you move the brush through your hair and continue to direct the head at the barrel.

I’m pretty rubbish (and impatient) when it comes to styling my hair but with a bit of practice this brush really does make a big difference to the overall finish of my style and when used in conjunction with the root lift spray, I can really see a difference in the volume of my hair which is great!

So now I’ve managed to inject some volume and pizazz into my hair which is fabulous, I now also want to ensure that it stays looking smooth and silky.

Their Straight and Smooth Spray (£12.95) is a super lightweight spray that not only helps to create smoother, straighter hair but also protects against heat damage.

Again, this can be used on damp or dry hair but this time I prefer to use it on dry hair once its been blow dried and prior to styling with my straighteners.

I spray about 4-6 pumps evenly across my hair before using my styler and find that my hair feels  softer and stays straighter with less kinks, for longer.

So, if you too are after bouncier, more volumised hair that is also straight and smooth then you know where to go!

All three of the GHD products shown are available now from the GHD website.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Rosé

Juicy Couture’s new Viva La Juicy Rosé fragrance has to be possibly one of the most outrageously gaudy yet gorgeous fragrances I have ever had the sheer pleasure of coming across!

I know you should never judge a fragrance by the bottle, but I mean come on, when the bottle looks like this you’re going to pass a little judgement!

Inspired by the Viva girl’s free spirit and exuberance, Viva La Juicy Rosé offers a fresh twist on the classic scent.

Housed within the iconic Viva La Juicy-style bottle, this bright, pink and sparkily design shimmers with an ombré effect, fading from splashy pink to radiant gold.

It is VERY sparkily and ever so fabulous!

It also features a cute rose-gold champagne bottle charm and translucent hot pink bow, both of which hint at the effervescent and playful scent inside!

As you may have guessed from the bottle, the scent within is a fairly light, playful, bubbly scent and yes it is very girly!

The fragrance opens with the fresh and fruity notes of Italian Mandarin and William Pear, intertwining with soft Jasmine Petals.

At its heart is Rose Centifolia, a honey-like floralcy next to White Peony and Jasmine Sambac.
Base notes of decadent Ambrox ,sensual Orris Absolu and warm Benzoin round the fragrance off perfectly.

I’m not sure exactly what I expected from this fragrance but to be honest I ended up feeling pleasantly surprised by its vibrant yet somehow also quite sophisticated scent.

It’s a perfume that is perfect for the forthcoming summer months, light enough to be worn in the day but would also work really well as an evening scent.

Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy Rosé EDP is available now and costs £69 for 100ml or £50 for 50ml.

Kiss Air Cocktail Candles

One of the things I’ve missed most since falling pregnant is being able to have a drink.

I’m not exactly a big drinker, but do enjoy a nice glass of wine every now and then and I’m REALLY missing my M&S cans of Pina Colada- seriously, they are soooooo yum!

So, imagine my joy when I discovered that Kiss Air candles have a cocktail inspired range of candles!

As you probably all know by now I love a scented candle, so to find some that also combine my love for scrummy cocktails and I’m pretty much in heaven, especially given that I can’t indulge in the real deal for now!

The newest addition to their range is Gin and Tonic and yes, it smells JUST LIKE a real one!

The fragrance begins with bubbly top notes of club soda with warm citrus enhancements, followed by middle notes of fresh rosemary and juniper all embraced by a bottom note of crisp cedar.

I wasn’t sure that the smell of G&T would translate well into a home fragrance but I was seriously wrong, it’s absolutely divine and perfect for people who can’t deal with really sickly sweet scents.

Speaking of sweet scents is their Pina Colada candle that I may have spent an inappropriately long period of time sniffing when I first received it!

This little tin of pure joy smells of ripe, sweet pineapples combined with creamy coconut and yes, this is my absolute favourite! The scent is spot on and if like me you love really sacchariney scents then this is your boy!

Now, while I’m not a fan of Mojitos to drink, the scent translates beautifully into the form of a candle.

This cocktail candle features strong noted of juicy lime and sugar, balanced out by the soft, gentle notes of mint leaves and rum.

It’s deliciously light and leaves your home smelling really fresh and fruity.

Each of these fabulous Cocktail inspired candles from Kiss Air candles cost just £8.50 each and burn for between 25-30 hours, meaning your getting a lot of gorgeous fragrance for your money!

The entire Kiss Air range of candles are available now from their website.
