Winky Lux Flower Lip Balm

Every woman needs her own little lip balm collection. A collection comprising of balms of different textures, scents and tastes, to suit whatever mood you’re in.

My lip balm collection is expansive and somewhat OTT, but I just can’t say no to a cute/yummy/delicious smelling lip product that works.

It’s no wonder that I couldn’t say no to these Winky Lux Flower Balms then as they tick every box possible!

Cute packaging? Tick.

Designed to resemble a pill capsule with hot pink/gold accents and housed in the prettiest floral box I was pretty much hooked before I’d even see what lay within!

Gorgeous and appealing looking product? Tick.

When twisted to the top, this clear bullet reveals a real chrysanthemum, captured within the balm itself.

Available in 5 different colours (yellow, pink, blue, purple and green) you have to admit that it’s a real eyecatcher!

An actual flower in a lip balm. Granted, it is a bit bizarre, but I also think it’s actually VERY cute.

Delicious scent and flavour? Tick.

This clever little balm features a coconut scent but I actually thought it smelt rather like vanilla.

Either way, it’s extremely pleasant!

 Does it work? Tick.

This is the balm that keeps on giving. Once you’ve gotten over its initial appearance you’ll be delighted to learn that this is no ordinary lip balm. Oh no.

Once applied, this bestselling product actually reacts with your skin’s pH levels to create a perfect, unique shade just for you.

How fabulous is that!

In terms of texture the balm is soft and silky, non-sticky and long lasting. Within about 20 seconds after applying it to my lips I began to notice the clear sheen transform into a delicate, pinky hue which brought my lips to life and left them looking pretty and feeling moisturised.

Despite my initial concern that the colour of the flower within was a representation of the colour that the balm would transform into, I’m pleased to confirm that that is in fact not the case.

Each balm, regardless of flower colour will react with your lips in the same way, leaving them looking delicately flushed, plump and hydrated.

I’m over the moon with this little find and I’m so in love with my little lip pills I think I may need to have every coloured flower in my collection.

Whoops!

Winky Lux Flower Balm’s are available now from Feelunique and cost £13 each.

Elemis Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream-Oil

Elemis Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream-Oil is restorative night time treatment designed to hydrate, restore and replenish your skin while you sleep.

This little bottle of joy features all the hydrating properties of a moisturising cream with the protection of an oil.

A 2-in-1 if you like.

Inspired by your skin’s natural circadian rhythms (waves of activity which trigger cells to perform important processes at specific times of the day with repair and renewal boosted during the night) Elemis’s tetra-peptide formula helps to support your skin’s natural processes.

The cream-oil features a blend of perilla seed oil which is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties along with a high Omega 3 content with Elemis’ Night Scented Stock Oil which itself is rich in omega 3, vitamin E and anti-oxidants to create a product which leaves your skin feeling soft, firmer and replenished.

The product itself is surprisingly light and soft in texture (given its oil content) and possesses a beautiful, delicate and relaxing scent.

Quickly absorbed it instantly leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished.

I’ve been using this cream-oil daily for several weeks now and I’m impressed with how my skin has responded to it.

My skin feels firmer, looks brighter and even my skin tone is far more even than it was prior to using it.

Apparently I’m not alone in noticing these changes, with 99% of 100 people included within a 4 week trial saying that their skin looked and felt firmer and an astounding 100% saying that they noticed an improvement in their fine lines and wrinkles.

That’s a pretty glowing review if I ever I saw!

Elemis’ Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream-Oil is available now and costs £49 for 30ml.

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara

If I was shipwrecked on a desert island and had access to only one beauty product I would always choose Mascara.

Silly really, because let’s be honest, if you were stuck on a desert island, make up would be the least of your worries, but still!

A good mascara can open up your eyes, making them the focal point of your face and help you to look more awake even if you’ve been up all night partying (or in my case, been up with the kids).

One of my latest finds on my never ending hunt for fabulous Mascara’s is this bad boy from Lancôme.

Readers, meet Monsieur Big.

Packaged beautifully in a chick black tube with hot pink detailing, its name alludes to its ability to create big, fat lashes.

The wand features fairly large application bristles which are made of soft fibres that are designed to hug your lashes for a soft, smooth application.

The formula contains supple waxes and binding polymers which allow you to build length and (allegedly) create up to 12 times more volume than your naked lashes.

Sounds good eh?

The formula is marketed as ‘ultra black, volumising and longwearing’, but does it live up to its name?
In a word, yes.

Ordinarily I’m not a fan of fat, bushy bristles on mascara wands. I tend to find them difficult to use, making the mascara hard to apply due to lack of precision.

Not so with Monsieur Big. I actually really enjoyed the softness of the brush which felt wonderfully soft on my lashes and despite its size, I was able to manoeuvre the brush to ensure each lash was coated.

A little wriggling was required but the bristles did a fab job of evenly distributing the mascara while simultaneously separating my lashes.

After the first coat my lashes looked more defined.

It was the second coat that really did the job. It made a HUGE difference to my lashes in terms of volume, making them look lush and bountiful.

I had to work a little harder on the ends to create dramatic length but even this wasn’t that difficult.

In terms of longevity the mascara lasted all day without a hint of flakiness. Not only did it not-flake, but it didn’t transfer like some mascaras do over time to leave that really irritating black smudge underneath your bottom lashes.

It stayed exactly where I put it until it was time to remove it, at which point it melted away easily with my oil cleanser.

I love removing my make up just as much as I enjoy applying it and a real bug bear of mine is having to really work at getting my mascara off as it damages my lashes and irritates my eyes, so considering its staying power I was surprised as how easily and gently I could remove it.

It’s safe to say that Monsieur Big gets a big thumbs up from me, so if you’re looking for fat, thick, gorgeous lashes, give it a shot.

Lancôme’s Monsieur Big Mascara is available now and costs £21.
