L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Max Designer Lip Pen

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Max Designer Lip Pen’s are the new lip colour bad boys on the block.

Unlike any other lip colour I’ve used before, these pens feature pigmented powders and a sponge applicator to deliver a matte colour to your lips in 6 shades ranging from a subtle nude to a bright, vibrant purple.

I’m not going to lie, I totally thought these were eyeshadows when I first saw them because lets me be honest, If I see a powder and sponge I automatically think eye colour, not lips.

Intrigued, I was excited to see how these would perform and to find out how they worked.

Basically, instead of using pigment oils and wax which is what is used in traditional lipsticks, L’Oreal Paris have created a unique mix of powder pigments, polymers and microspheres to create what they say is a buildable, 3D colour that gives 8 hours of wear and doesn’t dry your lips.

Interesting.

I eagerly cracked these out, excited to give them a go and see what they were like.

To be honest, I found them quite difficult to get used to.

Applying them was a bit of a pain because while they may be fairly well pigmented, the powder and brush meant it took a while to build up the colour. Once I had the desired colour on my lips, getting it to look even was the next issue.

After smudging it around my lips for a fairly decent amount of time I did manage to even it out and to be fair, it looked really quite nice.

However, I wouldn’t agree with the claims that it doesn’t dry your lips, because my lips felt super dehydrated. To be fair they were a bit dry to begin with which didn’t help, but the powder quickly found any dry areas and clung onto them more so than the rest of my lip and I felt like I desperately needed to apply a bit of lip balm.

Maybe with softer lips it would have felt more comfortable, but I did like the colour it provided.

As for lasting 8 hours, this certainly wasn’t the case for me, even with my mega dry lips.

I actually found they wore off fairly quickly, but I don’t expect a lipstick or lip colour to last for hours given how often I eat and drink etc so that didn’t bother me at all.

In a nutshell, these pens are cool, quirky and unique. They offer a good splash of colour and despite finding it tricky, I did enjoy applying them to my lips with the soft, spongy brush.

At £6.99 each they don’t cost the earth so if you are now also Intrigued then they’re definitely worth a try.

Before I reveal just how much the set will cost you (and believe me its amazing) lets have a quick look in more detail at the contents.

First up has to be four of the new Nail Lacquer’s from the New Orleans S/S 16 collection.

Next up is the OPI Avoplex Nail and Cuticle Replenishing Oil. My nails, cuticles and hands are generally really dry and not in great shape thanks to having a toddler which means I spend my life washing my hands and forgetting to take care of them.
