Elemis S.O.S Emergency Cream

When I'm having one of those months when my skin just don't play ball (I’m talking break outs, irritated areas, hormonal patches, you know what I'm talking about) there is only one product I ever turn to.

Elemis SOS Emergency cream is my skincare saviour when I'm up against it!

Despite its name saying "emergency cream", it is actually a daily moisturiser which has been formulated to help sort out stressed, hormonal, irritated skin and restore your skins natural balance.

This healing cream contains amino acids, lavender, willow, myrrh and centella asiatica to help soothe your skin back to its normal state without aggravating it further.

It is a thick and creamy product but with a light texture which is absorbed quickly to leave a matte finish on your skin.

When you first apply it feels ever so slightly greasy, but this sensation quickly goes, leaving your face feeling soft and moisturised without feeling shiny or clogged.

It has a really pleasant, calming smell to it too, which is exactly what you need when your skin is anything but calm!

Now, this cream is not cheap, but for me it's worth its weight in gold as it's the only thing that helps to calm my skin when it flares up.

You can buy Elemis' SOS Emergency Cream from the Time to Spa website where it costs £51.

The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Collection

Smoky Poppy is the seductive new collection for The Body Shop.

Available from today, this alluring new range is out just in time for Valentines Day, so boys if you’re reading this, take note!

The best way to describe this collection is as an intoxicating, warm, spicy and delicately floral. Laced with the extract of oil rich poppy flowers, it is a very grown up and addictive collection.

Encased within stylish black bottles with a ruby red poppy, the range screams romance, if you ask me!

I love the shower gel (£4), which itself too is dark, mysterious shade!

Check out their bath bombs (£12) which include real poppy seeds.

The Eau de Toilette (£8.50) is beautiful and super wearable, a delicate smoky, warm fragrance that I reckon would appeal to a wide range of women, old and young.

Also in this collection is the new Universal Lip and Cheek velvet stick (£12), which is designed to give your lips and cheeks a natural flush flow with a matte finish.

Pictured here with a Lip and Cheek velvet stick in Poppy Red, this stick is a little bit special.

Don’t be afraid of its black appearance as this universal stick adapts to the unique PH of your skin, giving you your own unique poppy shade!

How cool is that!

So, If you’re not a fan of very sweet fragrances, but likewise aren’t that into heady florals, Smoky Poppy could be just the range for you.

The whole Smoky Poppy range is available now in store and online.

The Library of Fragrance

From September 2014 you may have noticed a new product range available from 400 Boots stores around the UK.

You may not have seen them yet and you may not be familiar with the brand, so allow me to introduce you to the hugely popular US Fragrance brand, The Library of Fragrance.

This is no ordinary fragrance brand let me tell you, oh no. Established in 1996 it launced with an iconic capsule of just three scents. These scents were ‘Grass’, ‘Tomato’ and ‘dirt’.

Yep, really.

Their mission is to capture the scents that surround us in the everyday, and they truly smell spot on!
Today, they boast over 300 scents, ranging from fairly typical fragrances such as ‘Jasmine’ or ‘Freesia, to the far more unique and unusual, such a ‘Baby Powder’, ‘Gin and Tonic’, ‘Fireplace’, ‘Pizza’, ‘Play Doh’ and the one I tried, ‘Pina Colada’!

Before you all shout at me ‘But who wants to smell like an alcoholic beverage or dirt?’ allow me to explain further.

The idea is that you can create your own signature scent from their vast range of smells.

The Library of Fragrance enables its wearers to ‘layer’ the scents and wear them together to create new and unique iterations. The most basic rule of thumb is that if things smell good together in real life, they will smell good on you.

For example, ‘Grass’ + ‘Sunshine’ + ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’ smell incredible worn together, whilst ‘Gingerbread’ + ‘Marshmallow’ is a comforting duo that gourmand fragrance fans will fall for.

It gives you the opportunity to customise your own scent and indeed the company and Boots encourages you to do so with its ‘2 for £25’ promotion (Each fragrance costs £15 alone.)

You all know how much I love sweet scents so I gave Pina Colada a try and boy does it smell like it! Its amazing and so realistic smelling, I adore it! I would say that on its own, it is VERY sweet smelling, but if combined with a more subtle, musky scent such as vanilla or even peach, would be much more wearable.

A capsule collection of 28 of the brand’s best-selling scents are available at Boots stores and a more extensive collection of 101 fragrances are available from the brand’s UK website.
