The Body Shop Drops Of Light Brightening Serum

The Body Shop Drops of Light Brightening Serum is a super lightweight serum designed to help reduce the number and intensity of dark spots.

I’m quite lucky that I (currently) don’t suffer too badly with dark spots, however I’ve noticed that when the sun comes out I do end up with some uneven pigmentation  on my face and also, after a spot has gone and the skin is healing.

I’ve not tried any kind of dark spot treatment before so was excited to try this serum from a brand I like and trust.

So, the serum itself is really lightweight, almost watery in texture with a delicate, fresh, pleasant scent.

It is designed to be used after cleansing and prior to moisturising and personally, due to its texture I found I only needed a few drops to sufficiently cover my face.

Its lightweight texture means it is absorbed really quickly into your skin, leaving a soft, shine free finish, which I was thankful for given my skins tendency to be slightly oily.

Despite how light it feels, my skin was left feeling really soft, smooth and nourished, to the point where on several occasions I actually didn’t feel the need to use my moisturiser. That said, if you have dry skin you will still definitely need a moisturiser on top.

So, initially it leaves your skin feeling hydrated and awake, but does it really make much of a difference to your dark spots?

Well, I actually think it might, yes.

After using it twice daily for a month my skin felt beautifully soft and dare I say, luminous. The darker patches of skin beside each eye DID start to look slightly less obvious, and scars from healing spots appeared less noticeable.

I’d be interested to see how it works on older skin with deeper pigmentation issues, but for £25 I’m actually pretty impressed.

Even if you don’t suffer with dark spots, but are after healthier more luminous looking skin then I’d certainly suggest you give this a go.

The Body Shop Drops Of Light Brightening Serum is available now and costs £25 for 30ml.

Zelens Intense Defence Antioxidant Serum

You may remember my post a couple of months ago about a new brand called Zelens and their fabulous cleanser, well, today I'm talking about another gorgeous product from their range.

Meet one of my new skincare heroes, Zelens Intense Defence Antioxidant Serum.

This potent antioxidant serum contains a unique blend of ingredients to help fight against three types of free radicals and defend against other environmental factors such as UV radiation, stress, alcohol, air pollution and smoking.

The three types are;

ROS: Reactive Oxygen Species which causes oxidative damage to the skin

RNS: Reactive Nitrogen Species which promotes inflammation leading to cellular damage

RCS: Reactive Carbonyl Species which causes addition of sugar molecules to a protein and damages collage and elastin, leading to premature skin ageing.

All of these factors contribute to the premature ageing of your skin and while many antioxidant products only protect the skin from one type of free radicals (ROS) this bad boy targets all three!

Designed to be used on freshly cleansed skin before you moisturise the serum is meant to provide a protective barrier against all three types of the harmful free radicals, improve the texture and appearance or the skin by stimulating collagen production and leave your skin feeling hydrated, former and healthy looking.

So, the serum itself is milky in colour and light in texture.

I've got to be honest I was slightly taken aback by its smell when I first used it! It wasn't the most pleasant aroma, but I stuck with it.

A little goes a long way and the serum sank into my skin super quickly. I have to say, it really did leave my face feeling quite lovely.

On occasion, I didn't even feel the need to moisturise after using it ( though I do have oily skin).

After using it twice daily for two weeks I have definitely noticed a difference in the texture and appearance of my skin.  In face, I've even been complimented on more than one occasion on the "vibrancy" and "glow" that my skin seems to be giving off. Winner!

Now, there is really only one negative about this product.

The price. It's £125. A lot of money, I know. BUT, this is a real investment in your skin and your skins health. I view using it as I would using a high SPF. I'm protecting it from negative environmental influences, and at 29 years old, I really do need to start.

Zelens Intense Defence Antioxidant Serum is  suitable for all skin types, is oil free, dermatologically tested, available any day now from Zelens and retails at £125

Antonia Burrell Pure Therapy Oil Serum

Ladies and gents, I’ve FINALLY found a product that treats two of my biggest skincare issues!
Anti ageing and problem skin.

If these are two of your primary skin concerns, look no more and say hello to Antonia Burrell and her Pure Therapy Facial Oil Serum.

This serum is a little diamond and my favourite skincare product of the moment. It is just fabulous.

It may not be much to look at, but this 100% natural serum contains a blend of 21 plant extracts which are designed to deeply purify, heal, refine and regulate the natural balance of both oily and dry skin.

Antonia uses her 18 years as a holistic facialist to personally choose the blend of ingredients used within the serum, to ensure a potent and effective product.

Pure Therapy serum contains Organic Sandalwood, which calms irritated skin with its powerful natural healing properties.

Kiwi Seed delivers a dose of anti-oxidants as well as essential omega 3 and 6 to help treat large pores, reduce redness and leave the skin looking youthful and plump.

Melaleuca Viridiflora Leaf Extract is a powerful antiseptic, and promotes healing of scar tissue and patented Date Palm Kernel extract with clinically proven anti-wrinkle efficacy decreases skin wrinkles rapidly and significantly.

Basically, its packed full of AMAZING stuff!

The serum itself feels initially like a light oil, but is absorbed quickly leaving no oily residue.

It smells AMAZING. It has a very strong fragrance, an amalgamation of tonnes of different natural  oils, which I actually found to be really relaxing and a treat in itself.

I applied 2 pumps to freshly cleanses skin twice a day and I was thrilled with the results.

My skin looked and felt soft and nourished and after about 4 or 5 days, my combination skin was far more even, with my oily patches being less so and my dry patches appearing more moisturised.

Instead of feeling clogged by skin feels fresh and light after using it, refreshed and revived.

I love the fact that its packed with tonnes of anti ageing ingredients too, so its looking after my skin as well as helping to control it, win win!

The Antonia Burrell Pure Therapy Oil Serum is available from her website and costs £58.80.
