Clinique Pop™ Reds Lip + Cheek

Marketed as ‘the only red you’ll ever need, matched to your skin tone and undertone’, these metallic, rectangular tubes of joy contain richly pigmented, alluring red lipsticks to bring any look to life AND they also be used on your cheeks.

 

Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve long been using lipstick as blush, partly because I’m lazy, partly because I enjoy the cohesiveness of having a look that is brought together by matching shades.

When it comes to red, it can be really hard to find an appropriate blush to match your lip, but not any more!

 

Available in seven stunning shades, everything about this lippie screams glamour.

I had the pleasure of testing out the following four shades;

 

Red Hot, a vibrant, bright red with orange tones

Red-y to party, a deep, warm browny-red

Red-handed, a soft, warm vintage brick red

Red carpet, a soft red with pinky tones

I really enjoy the look and feel of the heavy, metallic red cases which look really expensive.

In terms of the finish, I would describe the lipsticks as having a creamy-seen about them.

Richly pigmented yet deeply nourishing, they have been formulated with conditioning squalene and pomegranate sterols which leave your lips feeling soft, full and moisturised.

This added hydration means the final finish has a soft sheen which is actually rather flattering.

The bullet features an angled tip to allow for precision application and the lipstick literally glides across your lips, imparting a powerful hit of colour wherever it touches.

No pulling or snagging here, just a lightweight, comfortable experience as the lipstick hugs your lips, offering long lasting wear for up to 8 hours.

Despite its high shine finish, I was impressed to note that I didn’t experience any bleeding or feathering, which for me usually occurs pretty soon after application.

They are, what I would describe as ‘easy to wear’ reds with almost zero maintenance or experience required.

Their soft sheen also makes application on the cheeks a breeze.

Blendable and buildable, they don’t crack or sit in creases which can be pretty unflattering.

They create a soft, natural-looking radiant glow which as if by magic, just so happens to match your lips.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer

Clinique have a new lipstick and in my opinion, it’s a bit of a game changer.

Not usually known for their lippies, the new Pop Lip Colour and Primer lovelies may just change that!

Available in 16 shades within 4 different colour ways; Nudes,Tawnies, Pinks and Voilets, these colour rich lipsticks have a built in primer which helps to define, smooth and nourish lips all day long.

Formulated  with Shea and Murumuru butters, they are combined into a flexible polymer blend that provides superior moisture maintenance for your lips.

The benefit of the primer creates a smoothing, velvety spread of colour on application and helps to keep your colour vivid throughout the day.

I have to be honest, I’ve never used a lip primer before so was interested to see if it would make any difference to the longevity and feel of the lipstick, but before I go into that- HOW pretty are these lipsticks!

Packaged in chic, modern looking square sticks with mirror like silver lids, the shade within is reflected on the outer packaging which looks fabulous if you ask me!

The lipstick within is a beautifully rich, creamy texture and glides onto your lips beautifully leaving a velvety soft finish.

Unlike many lippies, these are not drying in the slightest and I was very impressed with the combination of vibrant colour and their moisturising properties.

You often find that with moisturising lippies, the colours are often weak, streaky and lacking lustre, but this is definitely not the case with the Pop Lip colours.

I tested out a vibrant pink, 09 Sweet Pop, a sugar sweet pink 12 Fab Pop and a nude, 04 Beige Pop.

I found that the lighter pink, Fab Pop required slightly more attention when applying in terms of building the colour without any streakiness. By that I mean it took two coats rather than just one, so hardly a deal breaker.

I’m not usually a ‘nude’ lippie girl as those colours tend to make me look washed out, but I actually really liked Beige Pop, so I’m now a nude convert, thanks Clinique.

Wearing 09 Sweet Pop

I LOVE the shade Sweet Pop! It’s perfect for my skin tone and offers a lovely, wearable, summery shade.

The best thing about these lipsticks is that you don’t feel like you’re wearing a lipstick. 

It feel like you’re wearing a lip balm, as your lips stay soft and silky all day and when you do need to top up, the colour wears evenly off your lips.
