“I’m so excited to share with you my Skincare Edit with Look Fantastic. 5 incredible products which are the ultimate building blocks of a healthy skincare routine. Each one has been hand picked by me and is tailored to what our skin needs to be healthy, hydrated and protected.”- Alex Steinherr

Priced at £86.50 this impressive kit contains products worth £126.

But what is inside? Let’s a take a look.

First up is the CeraVe Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser.

This rich yet gentle foaming cleanser has been formulated with ceramides, amino acids and hyaluronic acid to help remove impurities and makeup without stripping the skin.

Suitable for dry skin, hyaluronic acid helps your skin to retain moisture leaving it feeling wonderfully cleansed and comfortable.

Next is the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Crème.

This universal moisturiser has been developed especially with sensitive skin in mind.

Suitable for all skin types, it helps to soothe, calm redness and relieve irritation.

Silky and lightweight, it wont clog your pores and can be used at any time of the day.

SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF 50 is a fab inclusion as many of us forget that its important to wear SPF all year round- yep, even in winter.

Beautifully lightweight and silky, you’d never guess that it holds such high protection.

Formulated with glycerine to hydrate, it protects your skin with state of the art filters to prevent hyperpigmentation and collagen breakdown caused by sun exposure.

The Decleor Neroli Bigarade Hydrating Oil Mask is simply divine.

This silky cream mask transforms into a lightweight oil when applied to your skin.

Hyaluronic acid and neroli work hard to deeply hydrate and soothe your skin while you sit back and relax to enjoy the calming aromas.

Finally there’s the iconic Vichy Mineral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

Famous for its superior hydrating qualities, this feather-light gel-serum contains an 89% concentration of Vichy Thermal Mineralising Water and hyaluronic acid to quench dry, dull skin.

It softens and pampers, strengthening your skins barrier for up to 24 hours, leaving you with plump, firm, beautiful skin.

It’s an impressive line up of hero skincare gems and if using these products will help me to achieve skin that glows like Alex’s, I’m more than prepared to give it a shot!

Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster

Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster is what is described as essentially ‘Your skin’s daily dose of strength.’

This lightweight gel serum combines Vichy’s highest concentration of Thermal Mineralizing Water, along with Hyaluronic acid to plump and strengthen your skins barrier and protect it from pollution.

It also happens to be housed in a really cool looking bottle!

This heavy, glass vessel features a dark blue bottom when gradually lightens as it works its way up to the top of the bottle and is completely transparent.

Vichy’s Thermal Mineralising Water is drawn from the depths of French volcanoes and is enriched with 15 rare minerals, proven to help stimulate your skin’s natural defence and reinforce its integrity by renewing and improving its natural barrier function.

Containing only 11 ingredients it is perfect for people like me who suffer with sensitive skin and is dermatologist and allergy-tested, free from oil, fragrance, silicones, parabens, alcohol and colourants.

It features a refreshing gel-serum like texture that is quickly absorbed into your skin yet leaves it feeling instantly nourished, calm, plump and radiant.

It is designed to be used every morning to clean dry skin as the very first step of your skincare routine once you’ve cleansed of course.

Once absorbed, you can then follow with your usual serum, moisturiser, SPF of whatever it may be that you use.

It is completely fragrance free and once applied its like you’d never know it was even there, apart from the fresh and moisturised way it leaves you skin feeling.

In all honesty Mineral 89 is such a simple yet effective product, in main due to its Hyaluronic acid content which is a molecule that can hold 1000 times its weight in water.

Because of this is it does a pretty awesome job of plumping and keeping your skin hydrated throughout the day which in turn helps to smooth fine lines and create a radiant complexion.

I’ve nothing bad to say about Vichy 89, though I’d love to know why its named that!

You can get your hands on Vichy 89’s Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster from Feelunique where it costs £22 for 50ml bottle.

Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil

By now you’ve doubtless heard about  Micellar cleansing waters.

Designed to make cleansing quick and super easy, these waters contain something called micelles which are tiny balls of cleansing molecules that float in water.

When applied to your skin, they act like magnets to gently lift away makeup, dirt and impurities on the skin, without the need to rub or rinse.

Personally I love them because of how effective they are and how gentle they are on my sensitive skin.

Well, Vichy have taken things a step further and created a Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil (£13.75).

This cleansing oil-micellar water hybrid is part of their new Purete Thermale range of cleansing products which have been created to help protect skin from hard water which can deposit limescale on to the skin and cause drying and irritation.

The Pureté Thermale range “insulates” skin against hard water using unique and effective formulations.

Well, cleansing need not be a chore but rather a pleasure with this Micellar Oil.

It is an extremely light, non greasy oil that is suitable for both dry and oily skin types.

Formulated with Camelia Oil and Vitamin E to care for and nourish your skin, the oil transform into a milk on contact with water to gently cleanse your skin leaving it feel soft and beautiful.

Massage the oil onto your dry face with dry hands then gently wash off with water for a gentle yet effective cleansing experience.

The formula even works to remove tough waterproof make-up, just make sure you massage it around your face for a decent length of time before washing off.

I’m a HUGE fan of this cleanser! It is so beautifully light and gentle on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling soft not at all dry.

If you aren’t ordinarily a fan of oil based cleansers or haven’t tried one before ( you really should by the way) then this little gem would be a great Introduction for you.

The Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil is available along with the rest of the Purete Thermale cleansing range at Escentual now where it is currently on offer for £11.65.

Savlon, My Saviour!

Every now and then it has been known for my skin to flare up and break out for no discernable reason and I’m left feeling self conscious and frustrated.

I work really hard to look after my skin so when it betrays me despite my hard work, it’s a pain in the arse.

My skin is doing just that to me at the moment, though right now I’m pretty sure it’s due to my pregnancy hormones sending my body haywire and completely messing with my inner mojo.

Ordinarily, I would turn to my normal go-to spot fighting product, Vichy’s Normaderm Hyaluspot which is gentle yet effective on my sensitive skin. It now appears, however, that during pregnancy, my skin just doesn’t like that product any more and instead of resolving the issue, it appears to have exasperated it.

Instead of gently shrinking the blighter I’m left with a sore, flaky patch of skin and a spot that’s still right there, mocking me.

In desperate and tears one day I called my mum to moan about my horrible skin and was told in no uncertain terms to use Savlon.

Yep, Savlon. That cheap, medicine cupboard staple that you have used forever on cuts, grazes, stings etc etc.

But won’t it clog my skin and make it even greasier? I asked, thinking of the time I decided to jump on the Sudocrem bandwagon and ended up with greasier skin AND blackheads.

I was assured by mum that she uses it all the time and it really helps.

For those of you have never used it before, Savlon is an antiseptic cream that gently soothes the skin to help fight infection and aid healing of minor skin disorders.

After checking that Savlon is safe to use in pregnancy (It is) I decided I had nothing to lose so slapped the stuff on twice a day and left a generous splodge across the problem areas (namely my chin) over night.

I am pleased to say that the following day both the redness and spot size had somewhat decreased. I repeated this for several days and my spots had all but gone, the flaky, sore skin was all but gone and I hadn’t developed any more of the sods!

I know they say ‘Mum knows best’ but boy was my mum right with this one! I LOVE the stuff and am a huge convert! Who knew something so every day and gentle could have such a dramatic effect on my skin!

Thank you Savlon!
