Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly Anti-Pollution

I’ve been very fortunate over the years to have access to some of the best skincare products that the beauty world has to offer but the one product that I always seem to have trouble finding myself getting on well with is a moisturiser.

I suffer from oily/combination skin which is both prone to hormonal break outs but can also suffer with dry patches, particularly round my nose- so you can imagine the difficult balancing act I have trying to find a cream to satisfy the dry patches without clogging the oily areas. It’s a ball ache.

I am delighted to say however that i think I have FINALLY found the answer to my moisturising prayers in the form of Clinique’s Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly.

This anti-pollution jelly has been created for all skin types and delivers 24 hour hydration PLUS it helps to repair damage caused by every day pollution.

It is is a 100% transparent lightweight, oil-free water-jelly works to balance your skin’s moisture levels providing immediate and long lasting moisture.

It contains Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid which attract moisture and bind it to your skin while working to strengthen the skins barrier to help lock in the good (like water) and filter out the bad (pollution) using a blend of Sunflower Seed Cake, Barley Extract, and Cucumber Fruit Extract to help rebuild the skin’s moisture barrier so it is stronger and more resilient to external aggressors.

Sounds rather impressive for what outwardly appears to be a bottle of transparent jelly eh!

The product itself is a unique water-jelly type texture which offers a refreshing hit when applied to your skin and is absorbed almost instantly leaving no trace.

It is fragrance free, oil free, non-sticky and leaves behind absolutely no residue whatsoever. You wouldn’t even know that you’d applied it within minutes of it being absorbed.

What you will notice however is the way in which your skin feels instantly refreshed, nourished and moisturised.

It feels completely weightless on your skin (which is ideal for us oily skinned peeps who can well do without thick creams clogging our pores more) and yet it also soothes and nourishes dry, cracked skin patches, allowing them to repair and heal extremely quickly.

Its currently cold season (plus I live with two small germ spreaders *sorry kids but its true!*) so I’m constantly blowing my nose which leaves it red, sore and flaky and within days this gel had sorted my snoz right out.

I’ve not had a single break out, even a hormonal one since using this moisturiser and I’m about to place a bulk order for a whole heap more because guys, this stuff is the NUTS.

If you’re struggling to find the right moisturiser for your skin, please please please trust me and give Clinique’s Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly a go- you will not regret it!

Clinique Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturiser

For about a month now I’ve been testing out a new night cream from Clinique.

Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturiser is an overnight recovery cream designed to help fight the early signs of ageing by warding off damage caused by everyday life such as pollution and other irritants.

Its blend of key ingredients are said to help strengthen the skins moisture barrier while stimulating natural collagen and elastin production to reveal hydrated and youthful skin.

I’ve never really bought into ‘night creams’ before, mainly because my oily/combination skin generally doesn’t need any extra moisture or treatments overnight, but signs of ageing ARE a big concern of mine so I thought it couldn’t hurt to give it a shot.

I was impressed by the expansive list of skin loving ingredients such as;

Ergothioneine, an antioxidant amino acid, naturally found in the body around cells that are exposed to free radical damage, helps protect skin from environmental aggressors such as pollution.

Micrococcus Lysate, detects UV damage at night, works over time to help reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness.

Chlorella Vulgaris, a green algae extract, helps stimulate collagen and elastin, while also strengthening skin’s moisture barrier. Fine lines and wrinkles appear reduced and skin’s firmness is maintained.

Murumuru Butter, derived from the murumuru palm trees grown in Brazil, is rich in fatty acids which help strengthen skin’s barrier. Skin becomes stronger and better able to resist external stress, which leads to visible signs of aging.

Clary Sage Extract helps rebuild skin’s lipids, which deliver long-term hydration.

Now, the cream itself says its designed for very dry to dry combination skin which worried me as I thought it might be too heavy for my skin but I was pleasantly surprised.

As you can see from the peak it leaves when swatched on my hand, it is a relatively thick cream but it isn’t overly rich and is absorbed really quickly into my skin.

I’m not left with a shiny face that feels weighed down by cream, indeed it feels lovely and soft and my skin drinks it in willingly.

It has a really pleasant, comforting scent reminiscent of cocoa butter and is just generally a really lovely face cream.

I think I’d need to use it long term to see real differences in the texture of my skin but in the morning it still feels lovely and soft and despite my concerns I’ve suffered no break outs and in fact I think my skin may even be grateful for treating it overnight!

The new Clinique Superdefense Night Recovery Moisturizer is available in two formulas, Very Dry to Dry Combination and Combination Oily to Oily and costs £40.00.
